Corrections Policy
We want every fact on Golden Shovel to be right. When something is wrong, we fix it and say so.
How to report an error
Use our Contact page. Include the article link, what you think is wrong, and a source if you have one, such as a company release or a filing.
What we do
- We check the claim against the original source. If the source shows we made a mistake, we correct the article.
- We note every correction on the article, usually at the bottom: "Correction, [date]: An earlier version said X. It is Y." We don't quietly change facts.
- Small fixes, such as typos or broken links, are made without a note. They don't change the meaning.
- If a story can't be supported, we take it down. If an article's main claim turns out to be wrong or unverifiable, we remove it or rewrite it with a note explaining why.
- Duplicates are merged. If we published the same story twice, the copies redirect to a single article.
Updates are not corrections
When a story develops, for example when a company releases new guidance, we may add an "Update" note with the date. That marks new information, not a fix to an error.
