1. Our Original Content
All editorial articles, analysis, commentary, site design, graphics, and original text published on goldenshovel.ca are the exclusive property of Golden Shovel and are protected by Canadian and international copyright law. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or commercial use of our original content without prior written permission is strictly prohibited.
You may share brief excerpts (up to 50 words) with a clearly visible link back to the original article on goldenshovel.ca. Full reproduction — even with attribution — is not permitted without written consent.
2. Third-Party Source Material
Golden Shovel publishes independently written articles that are informed by publicly available news reports from third-party sources including Reuters, Kitco, Mining.com, BNN Bloomberg, CBC, and other reputable outlets. Each article clearly credits its source publication at the bottom.
Our articles are original compositions — they are not reproductions, copies, or paraphrases of source articles. Our editorial process includes an automated similarity check that flags and discards any generated content exceeding a 15% textual overlap with source material. We do not reproduce headlines, body text, photographs, or data tables from third-party publishers without a license or explicit permission.
If you are a publisher and believe any content on this site infringes your copyright, please contact us immediately using the DMCA procedure below.
3. Fair Dealing & Fair Use
Where Golden Shovel references factual information from public sources — such as commodity prices, regulatory filings, press releases, or publicly available statistics — this is done under the principles of fair dealing (Canada) and fair use (United States). Facts themselves are not copyrightable; only the specific expression of those facts is protected.
4. Images & Media
Article thumbnail images on Golden Shovel are either (a) original AI-assisted editorial illustrations created exclusively for Golden Shovel, or (b) licensed stock photography. We do not reproduce photographs from third-party news articles. If you believe an image on this site infringes your rights, please contact us using the DMCA procedure below.
5. DMCA Takedown Procedure
Golden Shovel respects the intellectual property rights of others and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable Canadian copyright law. If you believe in good faith that content on this site infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to our designated agent containing all of the following:

Your counter-notice must include your contact information, identification of the removed content and its former URL, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed by mistake, and your physical or electronic signature. Send counter-notices to the same email address above.
7. Repeat Infringer Policy
Golden Shovel will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users or contributors who are determined to be repeat infringers of third-party copyrights.
